Down The Rabbit Hole, illustrations by Laura Hill

The White Rabbit's Watch, watercolor on paper

Detail, Play Croquet, acrylic on Bristol
As an artist and mom to artistic children I am always trying to show them ways that they can get their creative ideas into the world. After a trip to Alice's Tea Cup in NYC we were inspired to create an Alice In Wonderland themed installation titled, Down The Rabbit Hole.

This was an opportunity to flex some creative muscle and illustrate scenes from a book I love.

I created the picture This Way To The Tea Party using pencil on vellum. The White Rabbit's Watch, watercolor on paper, also has a classical feel. The last piece, Play Croquet, uses acrylic on Bristol to create a graphic 3D image.

The best part of this display was helping my daughters imagine and create environments for each of the pieces. They used Lucite frames to make flying cards, painted origami roses red with splattered paint and built the grass and fur covered March Hare's house, complete with bunny ears and a sign announcing a "tea party today."
